Abita 20th Anniversary Pilsner

I've been a long-term fan of Abita, ever since I lived in Pensacola FL in the early 90's. Has it really been twenty years for Abita? Wow. Times flies when you're having fun!

And "fun" is an apt expression for this beer. No overly thick and turgid, over-spiced, over-hopped, over-alcoholic Anniversary beer here. Nope. This is a beer you would actually want to drink while in Abita Springs, with the 90-degree heat, and the 90+% humidity!

Like most well-made Pilseners, this has a smooth&complex mouthfeel and malt bill, that can often only come from a double-decoction during the initial brewing process.

And this sort of complex, firm, yet completely accessible malt profile gives the Saaz-y hoppiness plenty of leeway to it's magic. Fairly dry, fairly bitter, but not too much so. Excellent balance with this beer, from start to finish.

Quite approachable and poundable, though it'd be a shame to slug this back too quickly! Take your time, it's a primo beer now & later. :)

Probably killer with a flat or two of mud-bugs. But not at all shabby solo, too!
