Ballast Point Sea Monster Stout

I've had this before at the pubs -- Ballast Point has always gotten a lot of play at O'Brien's and Hamilton's.

But while I though it was rather impressive then -- it's a whole other deal when it comes to handy take-home bomber-sized bottle. That is to say, a beer that really kills draught often seems to fall apart by the time it gets into the bottle. (Shades of a Ballast Point's Black Marlin Porter here).

But this time? Big thumb's up here. Not too huge in the ABV%, to unnecessarily confuse matters. No, this beer clocking in at 8% doesn't mean that the booze is the be-all and end-all of this beer's modus operandi.

Very nicely balanced. And yet not a simplistic "throw-away" beer, either. Very nice in it's roastiness, and yet poundable enough to almost qualify as something of a "session Foreign Export Stout" -- and not suck! :)

Sign me me up for a steady prescription of this medicine....!
