Birra Tirana

I grabbed this this same time as a Russian lager (in keeping with my weird penchant for many things ex-Communist).

But in keeping with its position on the Adriatic, Albania has always had more in common with its Italian neighbor across the sea than with its fellow Communists in the Balkans and beyond.

This bottle only mirrors this notion, in that it's a dead-ringer for the likes of Nastro Azzuro, aka a poor-man's Peroni.

Weird slickness to this beer, that is not really something I like in a self-proclaimed "premium pilsner beer". Especially when it goes on with "German Hops | Belgian Barley | Mountain Spring Water".

"Best Before 08 08 08", so yes, shame on me for expecting much of anything from a old(er) green-bottled beer from a backwater country such as Albania.

Could have been much worse. But there's nothing here you'll ever want or need to investigate....
