Blue Heron Pale Ale & White Hawk IPA

Two birds for a buck.

Two Trader Joe specials: $0.50 cents each. For two beers that used to really wet my whistle, why not?

Hmmm..... Well, the Blue Heron is dull, and the White Hawk is acidic, that's why!

Both obviously come from the same basic recipe, with the White Hawk a bit more bitter, and the Heron with a bit more in the way of the aroma. Both sport a rather by-the-numbers malt bill. And neither the Pale nor the IPA could hold a candle to better and more modern West Coast brews.

And neither beer jumped out of the glass and said to me, "Dude! I'm a great beer! We used to be buds! How come you've been dissing me? Going to go my way again soon, eh?".

Nope.

A charitable "meh" to the both of them.
