Boon Geuze

I'm a sucker for Gueuzes 24/7..., but especially so when it's warm outside. San Diego's "Fall" is not so differenty from it's "Summer", and so (in my mind) the weather still matches up nicely to a well-made Gueuze. And this surely fits into that description, IMO.

Yes, one can go on and and on about the sour/tart "horse-blankety" character of beers like this -- what's the challenge in that? After all, it's inherent with the yeast. And while I won't say that it's easy to brew such a beer (far from it!), I think that we are blessed in having a nice wide range of well-made Lambics and Guezes imported to this part of the world, and thus have a multitude to pick n' chose from.

Rather, would like to dwell on the thirst-qunching aspects of this particular beer. Nicely quaffable, qunching a thirst in no-time-flat -- *if* you can get past the sourness.

This isn't a "Beginners Gueuze", by any means. In fact, I think it would fall pretty well into the "Nut-Check" range of Lambics and Gueuzes (i.e. so sour that you may need to check to make sure certian body parts haven't fallen off!).

But overall, if you're a fan of the style, you can do a lot worse by going with this old stand-by. And if you aren't familar with the style, this might be a bit too much. But either way, this a very enjoyable and highly drinkable beer, IMO. Recommended.
