Budweiser Select

Had a pretty rough day at work (aboard USS Halsey, an Arliegh Burke-class Guided Missile Destroyer being built here in Pascagoula MS), and broke my "drinking only on weekends" diet this evening. Now, one would think that if I'm going to cheat, it would be with a worth-while beer, no? Well, when it comes to Pascagoula, there's not exactly a lot to chose from, beer-wise! Figured I might as well see what this beer is all about.

Wow. Can this be any lighter and more boring?

Well..., that's unfair. It blows away Rolling Rock's low-carb disaster. And I'd take this over Michelob Ultra and Coors' Alpine schwill, FWIW. But really, let's be realistic, ok?

This isn't bad, but really doesn't have anything to brag about, as far as this being a "select" beer. Nothing special here, except for the fact that it seems to me to be a bit less harsh than the standard Bud.

Easy to down -- I'll give you that much. And I've certainly had worse flavor profiles from the likes of this brewery. But it's so noncommittal and flaccid, it's hard to really warm up to this beer. Kinda like a cold and distant cousin at the family reunion picnic, that you rather not get to know anyway.

My wife might like this (hell, even she said Rolling Rock's low-carb beer sucked ass!), so this might show up in our `fridge back in San Diego. But for me, this is a "glad I tried it -- now I gotta move on!" type of beer.
