Cadillac Mtn. Stout

As Loren once said, this indeed "The Michael Amott of Dry Stouts". Yummy, and just an excellent all-around Stout.

Picked this up during my most recent business trip to the Portland ME area in May, and saved it for the 4th Of July (figured it was an All-American holiday, so might as well drink an All-American winner of a beer, eh?).

Toffey-tan appearence in the rocky head of foam -- tons of nice lacing, too. All this atop a typically dark-as-your-blackened-soul black body.

Nicely roasted grain-like aroma -- with hints of some old-school hops. Very much in line with what a Stout should be, IMO -- quite inviting.

But of course, with all beers, it's the taste that truly makes-or-breaks this beer. And something this nice surely passes with flying colors. Appealing interplay of the roasted grainy malt-bill with the more smoother bitter notes in the front and middle -- with the resulting finish in the backend something to behold. Hints of premium coffee -- which is a welcome add-on to the flavor profile, considering that no actual coffee was used to brew this.

An excellent Stout, that can easily turn even this particular hophead into a die-hard Stout lover -- yeah, it's that tasty.... :)
