Cheers Beer

My gov't contracting job means dealing with a lot of Navy folks -- and they almost always end up noticing my penchant for wearing beer t-shirts. As such, they know me as "the tech rep that's really into beer". And once in a great while, this reputation pays off, in that they go out of their way to bring back obscure beers from far away lands for me to sample. And sometimes, I strike gold with such out-of-the-blue beery gifts from afar.

This is not one of those times.

A big "thanks!" to some of the personnel aboard the USS Bon Homme Richard (LHD-6) for their efforts in bringing this all the way back to The States for me. But god damn if this isn't one sorry ass beer from Thailand.

Pours with little fanfare -- nil head retention, pissy-urine in appearence. Odd medicinal aroma. Flavor? Nothing. Nada. Tastes like nothing; less-than-nothing, really. Semi-carbonated water?

Finish? Hard to say. This didn't make an impression on me whatsoever, so I didn't even notice it going down the hatch. The epitome of forgettable, it seems.

Every other Thai beer I've had has always been a bit bolder than the norm, and/or alcoholic and boozey. It's very weird that this one is so noncommittal and anonymous. It's brewer (Thai Asia Pacific Brewery) is owned by Heineken, so maybe Heineken wanted something even less flavorful, to increase sales of Heineken in SEAsia?

Regardless, this is shite of the highest (or shall I say, lowest?) order. Avoid like the plague.
