While I've known about the Full Sail line of beers for a long time (used to drink nothing but at the now-defunct Newport Grill in Ocean Beach), I'd kinda lost track of them until recently. Noticed that they had recently changed over their labels (rather boringly minimalistic, IMO), as I saw that Trader Joes were selling both the Amber and Pale Ale for a good price. Picked up singles of both, and I'm glad I re-investigated this again.
Very drinkable and easy to pound. But before you get into too much of a rush to polish off this Amber, you might want to pay attention to the fact that this beer is quite well-made. Tons of orderly layers of Belgian lace coming from the microscopically thin layer of foam. Very clean aroma, with perhaps hints of malt in the nose. And a very clean flavor profile as well -- nice even melding of malt and PacNW hops. Perhaps not extremely adventurous, as far as West Coast ales go, but it is nice to have something that actually does stay "inside the box" (so to speak) once and a while.
An Amber ale that I would be happy to both recommend, and happy to purchase again in the future.

Brewer's Description:
Anyone remember the grocery store cooler back before it turned into a kaleidoscopic fantasy world of beer options? You pretty much had two choices: Regular or Light. In 1989, when we brewed our first batch of Full Sail Amber, ... not only was it the first Amber ale here in Beer Mecca (aka Oregon) -- it was the first craft beer to go into a bottle. And two things became immediately apparent. It wasn’t Regular and it sure as heck wasn’t Light. Our Amber is a sweet, malty, medium-bodied ale with a spicy, floral hop finish. It’s brewed with 2-row Pale, Crystal and Chocolate malts. And we hop it with Mt. Hoods and Cascades. We’re as proud of it today as we were back in ’89.
