Full Sail Limited Edition No.2

Yes, I know I'm a day-late and a dollar-short with reviewing this one. But this is not all that old of an old bottle -- Best Before 121407 -- even if I did get it from the "Misc. Loose Single Bottles" section of the local Trader Joe's.

Is this meant to be a Helles? Or is the LTD No. 2 a Bock-ish beer like No. 1 was?

I ask only due to the fact that this seems way too hot and estery to be anything but a Bock wannabe. "....the skills of the Full Sail crew" may be "mad", but I tend to think that some sanity would have better served this beer's best interests!

Golden-amber in the body, some decent lacing, though no real overt head or carbonation to speak of.

Smells a bit boozey and "paint thinner-ish" in the nose -- ditto for the flavor profile. Decent enough malty presence in the front, though seems to fade away even before it's down the hatch.

This also seems to advocate downing this beer rather quickly. No, that's not the same thing as "easy drinkability" IMO, but rather my own rather obtuse way of saying "drink this quick & cold, or suffer the consequences!". The malt rises up and gets rather cloying as this warms -- and the aforementioned booze factor ramps up too.

Okay, so that's two somewhat unworkable Bock-esqe beers from the "Full Sail crew". When do they get around to making beers that they not only want to make, but ALSO folks want to drink....??
