Issaquah Bullfrog Ale

This is coming from a Rogue-associated brewhouse (they purchased the once-independent joint in 2000).

My bud xlperro is soon off to the PacNW, where beers such as this will be all-too common. But , a word to the wise, Sir Richard?

Pass on this.

A rather hum-drum American Wheat...., without even the common decency of having any sort of foamy head. Tastes like Widmer Hefeweizen, sans the big head of foam.

Not necessarily a bad beer..., but just one that does nothing for me at all. There is nothing here you've not had dozens of times before. Very "Token Brewpub Wheat Ale 101", this is.

At the risk of stepping in it but good, I'd even go so far as to venture a guess why this beer is so blah-fucking-blah: it was brewed with either the tired and not-so-multipurpose "house ale yeast" of the Issaquah Brewery. Or (more likely?) this is just a Wheat Beer that was slammed with a healthy dose of Rogue's PacMan yeast. PacMan does a good job with hoppy beers, but in a wheat? Without a whole in the way of IBUs? Too dry + too clean = too boring.

Is it bad sign that the Ruskie lager I had before this was actually more interesting?
