Jack of the Wood Public House (Asheville, NC)

By-far my favorite of the many excellent brewpubs and tap-houses in Asheville. Only three of their own beers on tap (Porter, Pale Ale, and ESB), but each one was liquid gold, in my opinion.

This place looks like a mish-mash of Gaelic: Irish, Scottish, Welsh (Cornish?) trappings abound. Karen and I went on a quiet Tuesday night (which was a welcome break from the chaos of other, more crowded places), but could easily tell that the place would be fun with live music and a bit o' dancing and such, too. Definitely a must-visit.

Karen and I had dinner here on an early Saturday evening, while the band setup their gear, and the crowds weren't too thick.

Seems like you can count on two things, when it comes to most beer bars and brewpubs in Asheville: service a bit slow to get around to you, (but then picks up later on)..., and that seemingly every place around has live music. This place especially, it seemed to me, since we were told by Karen's friend that this is where the local bands really want to play.

Either way, had a nice dinner, and a few tasty ESB's, and then moved on. A very fine visit, to a very fine pub indeed... :)
