Kill Ugly Radio Ale

I confess: I know very little about Frank Zappa....

Yes, I know he was a brilliant musician, with a huge range of tastes and influences..., and a very prolific and scattered discography. And yes, I know his tutelage has given the world the likes of Steve Vai, et al. So, again, shame on me....

That having been said, how does this beer stack up to The Man, The Myth, The Legend? Well enough, I suppose...., though I never really truly warmed up to this beer, to be honest.

Filtration questions/debates/knock-down, drag-out-fights aside, this beer really is quite crystal clear..., and perhaps a little dull to look at, to be honest. Looked more like a classic Czech Pils than a classic CA IPA.

Won't even guess on the hop bill of this one -- and getting a straight answer from the folks at Lagunitas is probably a lesson in futility. But overall? A decent enough IPA, that brings enough of the hoppy stuff to the game to matter, I suppose.

But this seemed a little thin and simple in the malt bill, IMO. Again, whether that's due to excessive filtration (doubtful), or just a simple malt bill (more likely)..., the end result means that this beer is not bad -- not bad at all -- but not very distinctive. Nothing here seems to "leap out of the glass" to me, as it were.

An adequate after-work drinker, true -- and it went well enough with my big ol' Caesar & Thousand Island Salad -- but overall, it came and went with nothing even approaching the apparent magnitude of the original Mothers of Invention.

Note To Self: Investigate more early Frank Zappa..., but pass on any further analysis of this beer.....
