Left Hand Imperial Stout

During the Intermission of the Belgian Beer Fest (in-between Sessions 1 and 2), me and my bud wandered down the street to a local liquor store to check out the good stuff. We ended up getting each a four-pack of Left Hand Beers (the Imperial and Ginger, to be precise), which we devided up between us later on. And while I can't say that I have a lot of hope for the Juju Ginger Ale, I have to say that for now at least I can give the Imperial Stout a thumbs-up.

Almost completely opaque, with a thin (and quickly disappated) head of foam. No lacing, either.

Hints of coffee in the aroma, as well as a certian amount of complex fruit-ish notes too. All par for the course there.

This beer's relatively oily/vinious mouthfeel helps accentuate the positive aspects of this beer -- specifically, the tasty, raisiny, slightly dry flavor profile.

I thought the hop profile to be also worth mentioning. Pretty much every Imperial Stout needs a ton of hops in the backend to support all that malt..., but it's nice to actually distiguish them in the middle and front-end too....

Not a world-class Imperial Stout -- but a solid "Second Tier" beer, that's for sure. Recommended.
