Lucky Beer
As the so-called Happoshu Hero, virtually any Japanese beer is fair game for me. But how does that translate to checking out Australian-Chinese beers, too? Especially one that is so obviously banking on it's silly bottle and overly slick website? I think it qualifies.
To be honest, I expected this to be worse. A dash more maltiness in the mix than what you'll get from the likes of Tsingtao, for example. And cold, this was actually somewhat refreshing.
But as it quickly warmed, this rickety rickshaw of a beer began to break down, in a hurry. The aforementioned hints of bready malt evaporated, and left behind an overly thin, somewhat synthetic vibe to the whole affair. The backend of this beer also degraded. That is to say, this ended up being just not very pleasant to drink.
A harmless $2 Asian-esqe lager, in a fancy (dare I say, collectible?) bottle. But after getting this out of the preposterously silly bottle, the beer is just yet another C- effort from Australia nee China.
