Mississippi Mud Black & Tan

Yes, I am a glutton for punishment sometimes. I figured that since I was on a roll, with having sampled the so-called "Three Stooges Beer" (laughably boring), I figured that I might as well knock out this beer too (before moving onto much better beers in my fridge).

Picked this up for something like $0.75 at Trader Joes -- which is exactly what I would pay for this, with perhaps some change back! Very hard to call this a "Black & Tan", since at no point time did I feel that this was an even mixture of Ale and Stout (or Lager and Stout, for that matter). Rather, this looks, smells, and tastes exactly like what I would expect would be labeled to be an "Amber Ale" at any number of sub-par brewpubs and breweries across our great country -- a very poorly made and watery "Amber Ale", to boot.

Style quibbles aside, this is pretty piss-poor, no matter how you look at it. Characterless flavor profile, with the additional "bonus" of a weird chemical aftertaste. Minute hints of grainy malt in the extreme backend, but not nearly enough to save this beer. In fact, I can't even be sure that this is worth even dwelling on any further....

Probably considered to be a great little beer for folks who don't want to be seen drinking normal swill-like offerings, but don't have enough sense (or enough cash) to get a Guinness. And hey, do what you gotta do, I say. But for everybody else, there are so many better offererings than this...
