Prohibition Ale
Had a pint of this at the Goat Hill Tavern in Costa Mesa during the most recent Southern California Gathering last month.
One thing that I remember distinctly about Speakeasy's Big Daddy IPA was the fact that while it was tasty enough, with enough aroma to make things fairly interesting, the appearence of the beer was almost too distracting -- way too light and fluffy for the style.
Well, at the risk of repeating myself note-for-note, this too is just way too light in color to represent what I feel a Pale Ale should stand for. Does it affect the flavor? No of course not. But while I'm all for "thinking ouside the box" (esp. when it comes to brewing styles), there should be at least some sort of finite limits to what you can Pale Ale.
Regardless, an semi-interesting West Coast Pale Ale.
