RJ Rockers Patriot Pale Ale
Spartenburg, South Carolina's favorite!
Oh boy. My first of two beers from this outfit. It's been around since 1997, but this is the first I've seen or heard of `em.
My main issue with this beer isn't the "sweet finish", but the unappealing musky aroma, and the slightly astringent mouthfeel. Yeah, this is a little on the sweet side of things -- but the hop profile helps tamp that down to a low roar. Don't see Challenger hops in Yank beers too often....
But the 'Brut cologne' nose and 'prickly-hot' mouthfeel in this beer is much more of a deal-breaker.
Shame too, since I'd imagine that this would work wonders if it were off the tap. Nah....., who am I kidding? It would suck draught, too!
Verdict? shite. Note the lower-case "S".
