Sebago Lake Trout Stout

I wanted to close out my work trip to Maine with a bang -- or at least a beer that I knew rocked. I enjoyed this beer quite a bit when I had it had the Portland Old Port location, and was pleased to find a 22oz bottle of this in Bath ME. A quick dash into the store, dodging the torrential downpour of the rain, a quick run-in with the cashier, and away I went, bottle in hand.

Puts the "roast" in "roasty", this one does. Might actually be a bit off-putting for some folks who might not dig that sort of thing. But it's a controlled roast, here: no aspects of licking a dirty ashtray with this one!

Seems to combine some of the best aspects of both Oatmeal Stouts with their more famous Dry Irish Stout brethren. Perhaps swinging the pendulum a bit more toward the Oatmeal/Sweet side of the scale might help push this beer into The Big Time. But as is? No complaints coming from this quarter.

Perhaps not very "avant garde", as far as the style goes. And perhaps a bit too dry, too. But really? This beer is nothing to sneeze at, IMO. Worthy of a go at the pub, of if you see a bottle for sale.
