Shipyard Pumpkinhead

Sitting here in the Portland Int'l Airport, in the Shipyard "Brew Pub & Cafe" across from gate #6, camped out for the a few hours, waiting for my flight..., I had a quick bite to eat (comp'ed by Delta Airlines, since they bumped me off of my original flight). And of course, a few Shite-yahd pints. The IPA and Old Thumper were okay, for what they are, of course.

But they also have the Pumpkinhead. Having never actually experienced the unholy horror that is the Pumpkinhead, I confess to caving into certain primordially morbid urges, and ordered up a pint. It was on Delta Airline's dime, so what the hell, eh?

GAH. I'm pretty tolerant to spiced beers and all -- Anchor's OSA is a yearly guest in my fridge, for example. But "Jesus Christo, Sante Maria!" this is shite!!

I can take some nutmeg. But holy crap, when there's so much nutmeg et al that I feel a flush rush to my cheeks, and a sweat break out on my brow, there's really nothing good to be said about this...! One-third of a shaker pint, and I was done with it.

Very said that the Shite-yahd Export Ale that I had after this (for palate cleaning purposes only!) was 100x better than the Pukin'-head.

An unintentional beer review, sorry. But FWIW, this is pure *shite*
