Stellmacher Biere de Mai [homebrew]

Forward:

Posting a BrewReview, for a homebrew? Have I lost my mind? No, not at all. Since I hardly expect the professional brewers to give two shits about what I ramble on about, why not expand my net a little, and include enterprising homebrewers not giving a shit, too? At least then I can somewhat safely assume that at least some of my babbling could be used in a homebrew feedback capacity!

Speaking of feedback, I'd be curious how folks feel about this move. Love it? Hate it? Detest the idea of faux homebrewing picobreweries being intermingled with "real" brewing operations? I'm open for suggestions. But just FYI: don't plan on me standing up www.HomebrewReview.info any time in the near future!

Hello Orval. It's nice to see you again!

Now, that is entirely unfair to James (aka hornydevil). I'm sure it was not his intention to make something resembling Orval. But with the 100% Brett, the low hopping (C-hop, or otherwise), and the F.G. of exactly 1.000, this quite dry beer does remind me a little of what you'd expect to find in a young example of beer that happens to come in bowling pin bottles, and that happens to feature a fish holding a ring its mouth!

Good carbonation, but little head formation or lacing. But this is nice and clear, and has a very professional "feel" to the whole affair

Very refreshing and quite tasty stuff here. *Maybe* a touch too heavy in the malt. But for a beer with *no* Pale Malt, and nothing but Munich, wheat, and oats, this is far from an oppressively heavy or turgid beer. No idea how to tweak the malt profile to be perhaps a tad lighter on its feet -- and really, why mess with a good thing eh?

My first hornydevil beer -- and thumbs up in my book. Nicely done, James.
