Tiger Beer

I first had this in 1995, when the Navy ship I was stationed on stopped by Signapore. The small shipyard we pulled in at Sembawang (on the north side of the island/nation, facing Malaysia) had a place called the "Soap & Suds" -- a place to drink and do your laundry at the same time. A fairly good concept for a bar (especially overseas), that I've heard has been successfully transplanted to some college towns in North America.

Anyway, first had Tiger beer at the Soap & Suds from old-fashoned pull-tab steel cans. So, not light-struck and skunky, at least. This had a vile smell and lousy taste, but what are you going to do? Bad thing is the fact that this crap seemed to produce *instaneous hangovers* -- the only cure being, of course, to drink more beer. Thus, an ugly cycle of drinking bad beer and getting spliting headaches repeated itself over the four day port-visit. Vowed never to touch the swill again.

Well, flash forward to 2003, and I happened to see a bottle of the infamous Tiger beer in the singles section of my local liquor store. "Maybe it wasn't so bad", I reasoned to myself. Well boy-o, yep, it is indeed pretty much ass-water.

No crushing headache/hangover from this, but umipressive aroma, and attrocious flavor profile, only means two things to me: (1) my memory of this beer from 1995 wasn't all too far off-the-mark, and (2) it's down the drain for this wretchedly bad beer.
